Get into the Fall Spirit with Arlington Parks’ October Events

With cooler weather approaching, Arlington Parks and Recreation is gearing up to offer a variety of exciting fall-themed events throughout October. Whether you’re looking to celebrate Oktoberfest, enjoy a Halloween campout, or take part in a floating pumpkin patch, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this autumn. Mark your calendars for these festive activities!

Oktoberfest – Friday, October 4

Kick off October with Arlington’s very own Oktoberfest at S.J. Stovall Park on Friday, October 4, from 6 to 10 PM. This lively event will feature live German-themed music, yard games, food trucks, and beverages. Admission is free, and attendees can enjoy the festive atmosphere with friends and family. New this year, limited edition Oktoberfest steins are available for purchase, each including a ticket for a free beer. These steins are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to grab yours early!

Phantom Lights – Saturday, October 5

Prepare for an enchanting evening at the second annual Phantom Lights event, hosted at Cliff Nelson Recreation Center on Saturday, October 5, from 6 to 8 PM. This free, family-friendly event invites guests to decorate floating lanterns and release them onto the pond, creating a mesmerizing display. Afterward, enjoy a dance party and costume contest under the stars. Additional activities include vendors, a bounce house, games, live music, and food available for purchase. Lanterns are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Harvest Splash – Friday, October 18

Get ready for some fall fun at the Harvest Splash at East Indoor Pool on Friday, October 18, from 5 to 7 PM. Participants will have the opportunity to select and decorate pumpkins in a floating pumpkin patch, take photos at a themed photo booth, and enjoy the festive fall atmosphere. All participants must register, and an adult is required to accompany non-swimmers, children aged 3-5, and individuals wearing lifejackets.

Trail-or-Treat – Friday, October 18

For a fun-filled evening of trick-or-treating, games, and more, don’t miss Trail-or-Treat at the East Library and Recreation Center on Friday, October 18, from 6 to 8 PM. This free event is perfect for families, with vendors, activities, and plenty of candy for trick-or-treaters in costume. No registration is required—just come ready for a spooky, fun time!

Dottie Lynn’s In-Tents Campout – Saturday, October 19

Experience a family campout like no other at Dottie Lynn’s In-Tents Campout on Saturday, October 19. Set up tents and lanterns for an evening under the stars filled with fun activities, games, and of course, s’mores. Tent decorating and campfire bonding will make this a memorable night for the whole family.

Cozy Camp-o-Ween – Friday, October 25

For a Halloween-themed camping adventure, join Cozy Camp-o-Ween at The Beacon on Friday, October 25. This frightfully fun evening will include camping, spooky stories, thrilling movies, and exciting activities. Guests can enjoy treats from food trucks and participate in games while wearing their best Halloween costumes. Each registration secures a 10×10-foot camping space, which is suitable for a family of four. Additional space can be purchased if needed.
