Arlington Leads Texas in Household Income Growth, New Study Reveals

ARLINGTON — A new study by SmartAsset reveals that Arlington is leading all major Texas cities in household income growth. While most major cities in the state are seeing an increase in average earnings, a recent report indicates Arlington has outpaced its counterparts with a significant year-over-year increase.

According to the study, which analyzed U.S. Census Bureau data, the average U.S. household income saw a 1.3% increase, reaching approximately $83,730. However, Arlington residents experienced a much more substantial boost, with a 7.48% growth in median household income from 2023 to 2024. This growth has pushed the average household income in the city from $69,208 to $74,388.

Fort Worth followed Arlington closely with a 7.03% increase, and San Antonio came in third with 6.18%. Notably, Austin was the only major Texas city to see a decrease in income, with a -1.17% change, despite having the highest overall average household income at $90,430.

This data highlights Arlington’s economic vitality and its ability to provide a strong financial environment for its residents. The city’s growth in income is a positive indicator of a robust and developing local economy.
