Six Flags Over Texas Launches Historic 65th Anniversary Season with Record-Breaking Giga Coaster

ARLINGTON, Texas — The “original” Six Flags park is set to kick off a milestone year on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026. Celebrating 65 years as a leader in global theme park entertainment, Six Flags Over Texas has announced a multimillion-dollar reinvestment strategy that blends nostalgic tributes with cutting-edge thrill technology.

Tormenta Rampaging Run: A New Global Icon

The centerpiece of the anniversary is Tormenta Rampaging Run, a giga dive coaster set to debut later this season. Towering at over 300 feet, this massive addition will shatter six world records, officially becoming the tallest, fastest, and longest giga dive coaster on the planet.

The coaster will anchor a brand-new themed area, Rancho de la Tormenta, located in the Spain section of the park. This new village will also feature Cocina de la Abuela, a fresh dining concept serving traditional Spanish-inspired flavors.

Modernizing a Legend: Refreshed Rides & Venues

While the new coaster grabs headlines, the park is also honoring its roots by revitalizing classic attractions. Popular rides including Mr. Freeze, Batman, El Aserradero (the log flume), and the Runaway Mine Train have received mechanical upgrades and refreshed theming to ensure a smoother, more immersive experience.

Furthermore, the Southern Palace Theatre has undergone a total transformation. Now the park’s premier indoor venue, it features:

  • Expanded seating for enhanced guest comfort.
  • State-of-the-art audio and lighting production systems.
  • Increased capacity to host high-caliber theatrical productions.

Honoring 65 Years of History

For those who enjoy a walk down memory lane, the park is introducing two new ways to celebrate its heritage:

  • 65th Anniversary Museum: Located on Smith Street, this venue will house decades of park memorabilia and historic artifacts.
  • Commemorative Pavers: Guests can cement their own legacy by purchasing name-engraved pavers to be installed near the Silver Star Carousel. Prices start at $125.

2026 Entertainment & Festivals

The season will feature one of the most robust entertainment lineups in park history, including the Gazillion Bubbles Show (March 14–22), The Perondi’s Stunt Dog Experience, and the return of the fan-favorite stunt show, Texas Justice.

The calendar is packed with events, including Hurricane Harbor’s opening on May 16 (featuring the new Splash Island) and a massive Star Spangled Nights celebration for the U.S. Semiquincentennial on July 4.
